Meet the Partners
Stephen Barstow - Partner
Stephen first joined Alasdair MacArthur in 1987 and took over the running of the Claines surgery. 4 years later he became a partner and has been here ever since. As well as being involved in all aspects of running the small animal surgery his special interest is in exotics and wildlife, in fact he enjoys seeing anything which is slightly less usual. At home, apart from keeping many animals, Stephens main interests are in building and property renovation.
Anne Gibbs - Partner
Anne qualified from Bristol in 1991 having intercalated in Pharmacology during her veterinary studies. She worked in mixed practice in Oxfordshire for a couple of years before returning home to the practice. Having been brought up on a farm and livery yard it is no surprise that Anne divides her time between farm and equine duties. She is a past chairman of the Association of Racecourse Veterinary Surgeons and provides veterinary cover at Ludlow and Worcester racecourses as well as local point to points. Anne has spoken at many farmer meetings and workshops and given presentations to the Sheep Veterinary Society. Outside work Anne tries to keep up with her teenage children, runs a little, enjoys her vintage tractor and all things rural.
Phil Whiteley - Partner
A farmer’s son from Yorkshire, Phil graduated from Cambridge University Vet School, qualifying in 1997. He moved to Worcestershire and joined MacArthur Barstow & Gibbs in 2000, becoming a partner 2006. He concentrates his time on farm work and has a keen interest in bovine fertility and herd health. Phil is the senior veterinary surgeon for the Three Counties Show. He is an accomplished rower and fiercely competitive cyclist.
