We are a group of MCC Members who have a very significant and long experience of Club affairs both on and off the field of play. We have a duty to preserve the finest traditions and best interests of our national game and ensure that the MCC remains the greatest benefactor and custodian of the Laws and Spirit of Cricket. We wish to use the influence of MCC as a respected national institution and the Trustee of English Cricket in order to oppose adverse influences that threaten our cricketing heritage. We will ensure that our Ground at Lord's remains the Mecca of Cricket.
We have a duty to respond the the public concerns which we ourselves share over the aggressive commercialism being exercised by the ECB that is in danger of causing a schism within our game. We do not believe that it is right to place the government of a national sport within the unfettered control of a private company that is not the subject of any public checks and balances. We are professors of the game and driven by a spirit of altruism.
