Introducing Our Practice Team

Everyone at our practice is committed to providing you with the very best in pet healthcare. Our veterinary team bring a wealth of experience to the practice and have individually obtained high standards of professional qualification. By keeping our professional team small, you can normally see the same Vet or Nurse at each appointment if you would prefer to.

Most of the team have pets of their own and can recognise the bond that owners have with thier pets. Our goal is to offer the same level of care and treatment for our clients' pets as we would wish for our own.

Stuart KayMr Stuart Kay

Veterinary Surgeon and Director

BVMS MRCVS

I have been practising as a Veterinary Surgeon since qualifying from Glasgow University in 1981. I came to Newport in April 1982 when the practice was called Marr & Morris. At that time we were a mixed practice i.e. we treated large animals as well as small animals. Following the foot and mouth outbreak of 2001/02 we committed totally to the treatment of small animals. My own interests are Orthopaedics and General Medicine. Having a chocolate labrador of my own. I have never lost the feelings of an anxious owner and as a result here at Fields we treat all pets as if they were our own.

I graduated with commendation from the University of Liverpool and during my final year I completed my elective study in Feline Medicine.

I moved to Newport and Fields Veterinary Group in April 2003 having been impressed by the quality of care offered by the Practice.

During my time with Fields I have attended several continuing education courses, some of which have covered topics such as Rabbit Medicine, Cardiology and Feline Medicine. In 2006 I completed a 12 month course in Feline Medicine and gained a European General Practitioner Certificate in Feline Practice.

My main area of professional interest is Feline Medicine but I keep an interest in all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery.
