Out of hours emergencies

If your animal becomes alarmingly ill out of surgery opening hours you should telephone us and listen to a recorded message, which will advise you of the number to ring for the emegency sevice.

Our surgery subscribes to the Vets Now emergency service in Colchester. Clear directions to the surgery* will be provided and are are also available in a leaflet available at Brookend. Vets Now is permanently staffed at nights and weekends by a qualified team of vets and nurses who can attend to you and your pet when the Brookend staff are off duty.

Emergency veterinary procedures have become more and more specialised over recent years. In an emergency situation it is therefore often preferable for your pet to be treated by vets and nurses who work entirely in this area. The Vets Now staff regularly attend courses to ensure they remain up to date in emergency and critical care. They only work out of hours, thus ensuring that they are fresh to deal with emergencies. If possible, bring along any medications that your pet is receiving when you attend. 

* Vets Now actually uses the premises of Penrose and Partners Veterinary Surgery out of hours. This is very close to the Colchester north exit of the A12, and is very easy to find.
