Microchipping

There is one method of pet identification, which is permanent, invisible and tamperproof - the microchip implant. A tiny microchip, containing your petÂ’s unique code, is quickly and simply implanted under the skin at the back of the neck in a procedure similar to vaccination. Then if your pet ever strays the microchip and its code should be detected by a hand-held scanner, which is routinely used by most veterinary surgeries, local authorities and animal charities. Microchipping provides the most effective and permanent method of identifying your pet.

Should your animal be found by the police, dog wardens or taken to any veterinary surgery, it will be scanned.  This will immediately identify you as the owner, ensuring the safe return of your pet in the quickest time possible.

The microchip details are stored in a central database, so your animal can be identified anywhere in Great Britain. Also, with the new Pet Travel Scheme, the microchips are recognised throughout Europe, and form part of the new regulations.

We run a 'microchipping day' approximately every two months when a special reduced fee applies, although your pet can of course be microchipped at any time.
