By regularly worming your dog (we recommend every three months) you will be preventing parasite infestations which can cause diarrhoea, anaemia and general unthriftiness.
We can prescribe tablets or granules(which you can mix into the food) which are effective against gastro-intestinal roundworms, hookworm, whipworms, tapeworms and heartworm.
Dogs are commonly affected by fleas which can easily be treated and prevented form coming back by spot on formulations which we can prescribe.
In addition to fleas many of our flea treatments also treat mites (mange) and lungworm which the supermarket brands do not do.
If your dog does have fleas then we recommend to treat your home as well as your pet. This is because fleas will lay eggs on your pet but these will fall from their coat and into the environment - and as a female flea can lay between 30 and 40 eggs in 1 day that's up to 200 eggs in you home in just 5 days.
If your pet has fleas please don't be embarrassed as it is a very common problem - just give us a call and we will be happy to help.
